quiescence

In light of all that has happened this week, I want to make a profound statement. I want to stand up for my beliefs, to act in accordance with my deepest and most strongly held principles, and yet I find myself mute and quiescent.

What can I do?

I eat, sleep, work, and play video games. I go to dance practice. I continue as I was, and whine to sympathetic ears. How long, I wonder, before inaction and mediocrity become toxic? How long before my means of expression click with some greater group? Will it matter?

I want to retreat to a land of delicacy and pretty things- of corsetry and choreography, fine company and false pretenses. I want my ivory tower, even if all it overlooks is neverland.
