quiescence

Gainful employment, here I come.

So, I now have a job at Talbot Mens. The position in and of itself is not particularly thrilling, but it does dispel the creeping anxiety and doubt that unemployment causes. More importantly, it means that I will be making money again, and I have grown fond of food and shelter.

Possibly more exciting, I have a very promising interview event tomorrow evening. How this happened is quite a bizarre tale- two weeks ago I was at the food court in the Prudential Center after dropping off applications and whatnot, and I started talking to the guy next to me in line. The issue of employment, etc, came up, and he informed me that the internet company he works for is gearing up for some major expansion and had some positions open that would work well for experienced retail and management folks, and if I liked he could see about getting me in on the hiring process. I said sure, and thought little of it, but in the past few days he's called, told me that he got me an invite to the event, and a few hours ago got me on the phone with a member of their board of directors (who I'll be meeting tomorrow night). The genteleman told me, among other things, that "For tomorrow, the most important thing is to look sharp." Of my ability to look sharp, I am quite confident.

Suffice to say, I am a happy boy at the moment.
