Last year the Windsor Police Pipe Band was undefeated in North America and took 5th place overall at the World Pipe Band Championships. They're technically fantastic. They don't make mistakes. They have been and are the band to beat in Grade II competition.
We beat them.
Your very own local Cleveland-based North Coast Pipe Band came in 1st place today at the Alma Highland games in Michigan. Yesterday we came in second to Windsor by 1 point between 4 judges. (each judge scoring on a 100-pt scale)
It was hard to do. The weather was against everyone, band setup was very difficult, and it was the first contest of the year, so many were a bit nervous about playing new and untried sets in front of the judges. We sucked it up, focused, tried our damndest, and did well.
Five and a half hours of driving and more fast food than any one person should eat in a 48 hour period seem so tiny and so worth it now.
It's going to be a gooooooood season.
