I got laid off twice in this past year, it sucks. I've been wanting and studying to be a machinist for years and I just can't catch a break. I'm working right now in the Franklind Industrial park at a place called Qualified Products as a CNC Machine operator. The pay sucks, it's only $10 an hour and only 8 hour days and no overtime. My old shop called me with three days notice and wanted to know if I want to start back again Monday at $12 an hour (What I was getting paid before I got the boot) with 10 hour days and lots of overtime on Fridays, but it's only garunteed until the end of the year.
So, today I finally told my job that I'm not comming back Monday, well I'm going through a staffing temp-to-hire type place and they said ok I'll call them and let them know. When I get home the staffing places calles me back and tells me they'll offer me $12 an hour but no overtime until I get hired on permanently, so I told them to hire me, so tomorrow (Saturday) they're going to call me back and see if they want to hire me on right away.
I don't know what to do, I like both jobs, but my old Shop is in Heartland, about an hour drive from my house here near 76th and Howard. Let me know what you think I should do? take advantage and ask my old shop for more money or something?
I also got some SG stickers, let me know if you see any around town and if yuo see my car with one honk and give me a "what's up!?!" Thanks players,
