"The problem with being a pickup artist is that there are concepts like sincerity, genuineness, trust, and connection that are important to women. And all the techniques that are so effective in beginning a relationship violate every principle necessary to maintaining one." (The Game, Neil Strauss)

This quote comes from a book that has been circulating among my close friends. Its called the Game. The author details his life before hand where he was just like every other average guy. He then pays for a workshop where he was taught the basics of picking up women. Afterwards he progresses to be one of the best. Telling about the good the bad, and the unfortunate.

As i am only three quarters of the way into the story, i don't know where it ends. But it starts with Neil admitting something i find true to myself. Defeat: the route I'm on now is not one conducive to meeting women. By adopting the qualities of a pickup artist I'm admitting to having done everything wrong. And its a bitter taste.

I'm not unattractive, nor am I lacking a social life. hell I play video games for hours, but I also get out and play paintball for hours. I work out four days a week. I'm in the Army National Guard and a War Vet. But for some ungodly reason I cannot seem to meet women! Its for this reason I'm forced to acknowledge that I'm doing something wrong. Therefore i admit defeat. Its time for me to learn a skill set that some have come to them naturally. But for others, like myself, needs to be learned.

I put it to the test this last weekend. Nothing special: My intent was to approach groups of people and socialize for a couple minutes. I used to be naturally extroverted but since my first tour I've become slightly more internal. I know its emotional scarring, but thats not excuse. So i approached this group and that group, using various types of openers that the book covers. To my amazement they worked extremely well.

Unfortunately i haven't read far enough to know where to go after an opener. I know whats supposed to happen conceptually. In action though, i haven't done enough homework. So I'm going back to my book and teaching my self more. My goal is to have the entire process down by the time classes start up again.

And then ladies and gentlemen the game will be on.

"As anyone who regularly reads newspapers or true-crime books knows, a significant percentage of violent crime, from kidnapping to shotting sprees, is the result of the sexual frustrated impulses and desires of males. By socializing guys like Sasha, Mystery and I were making the world a safer place." (The Game, Neil Strauss)
