I had this really surreal experience last night, and its ironic, cause, its almost happening again right now..
It all revolves around the book The Beach, by Alex Garland, for those of you who have read it, youll know the part im talking about, and for those havent, go read it, and you will.
Last night, I was smoking my last smoke before going to bed, and I decided to pick the book up, and read a bit, well, earlier I had been listening to apoptygma berzerk, and it was still in the stereo, and unbeknownest to me, was still playing, but all it was, was silence, cause it was a blank track, leading up to the hidden track that I didnt know was there.
So Im reading this book, and I get to the part where he is talking about beating bosses in video games, and how its all about timing, and right as I start reading it, this song comes on my stereo, and im like cool, a hidden track, well, the song, was almost arcade game music, I mean, it could have been in any of number of games, and here I was reading a part in a book, where he was talking about games, and how its all about timing, and it was very slow motion like, cause I could see the scene from the book in my head, and here the soundtrack to it too. Another thing that was wierd, was the song ended at almost the same time the chapter did, so, it was almost as if, everything came together, in one perfect moment for me, the book, and the music.
Sidenote.....
I said earlier that it almost happened again, well I got home today, and one of the first things I did, was put on the soundtrack to the movie, that the book is based on, you know, the one with Leo in it?
Well for those of you that have seen the movie, there is the scene, where he is tripping in the forest, and playing a video game in his head, remember that?
Do you remember the music that was playing? Well, when I started writing this, that particular song came on, and it kinda through me for a loop...
Its like that VW commercial, where everthing is in snyc with the background music, and if you think about it, moments like that, rarely happen, where everything comes together, and fits like a glove.
I urge you pay attention more, cause when you go through moments like that, you learn to appreciate the little things in life a bit more....
