Sincere thanks to everyone for such kind words and helpful criticism regarding my rejected photos. I'm a little busy right now, so I'm sorry I can't respond to everyone individually.
In other news, my new rat Pearl is pregnant. If anyone in or around Bloomington needs some white rats, let me know. Pearl is very sweet, and I'm sure her babies will be...

It's from So Long and Thanks for All the Fish, the fourth book in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy by Douglas Adams.

Well now, I stuck some nakey pictures in my pics folder. They are of a set taken by jaxs1984 who is a great, sincere photographer and an all around swell guy to hang out with, so if anyone needs a picture-taker or a drinking buddy in the Chicagoland area, I recommend him.

When I first looked at your journal entry, I read it too fast and I thought it said... "pictures of spam"... so then, to be honest, the pictures of Spain were a bit anti-climatic.
Odd how expectations can fuck with us, huh? Maybe I can go on Google and find some pictures of canned meat, now that I'm all hot and bothered by the concept.

I'm a little behind the curve on this one, but American Idiot by Green Day is absolutely beautiful.
Spain was wonderful. Pictures soon.

I keep hearing that about that album. I may have to give it a listen. God only knows which of about a quarter billion idiots they named it after...
I can't wait to see the photos from Spain!!

What little of that album I've heard sounds really good. Haven't bought/downloaded it yet, though, so you're hardly the only one behind the curve.
And Spain would be nice right about now. Anywhere but Texas!

Happy New Year!
Dude, you made out much better for Christmas than I did. All I got was gift cards, and misery in the form of middle-aged Filipino women singing karaoke.

I must remember not to think I know anything.
Arrogance is the enemy of intelligence, though the two come often hand in hand. It would do the intelligent good to remember that. It would do the arrogant good to remember that.
Looking at all of the people below you, it is easy to feel superior to the entire world.

I stayed up all night last night-- literally all night-- doing my Daoism paper. I think it could be interesting to really study Daoism if only to find the exact instant where it all went horribly, horribly wrong. If you've read that pretty Daodejing and the Tao of Pooh, you don't know Daoism. You'd learn more from watching...

Well I'm genuine glad we could reach an understanding. I've been up for almost 36 hours (so un-Taoist
) so I must crash before the shadow kitties eat me (don't ask). Thanks for the interesting exchange.

Okay, I came over here to talk about what we were discussing in the thread about that little girl, and got totally distracted by the pictures above.
Anyway, I consider myself an agnostic at this point in time because I can't reconcile myself with the idea of a benevolent/personal god, and at the same time can't dismiss the scientific possibility that the universe was created by a higher intelligence. I think I understand to a certain extent where y'all are coming from, so I hope it's not taken otherwise. But yeah, this is something we can definitely discuss if you're interested - I've already pondered this issue to the point of neurosis, so I don't see what it could hurt.
And I concur with the above sentiments about your cuteness. And girls kissing is always a wonderful thing in my book.

Thanks! I will say that while I am an agnostic, I am interested in learning about religions, particularly non-Christian ones (I was raised Southern Baptist
), and hopeful that I will find something someday that clicks in some meaningful way. I have a passing knowledge about the eastern religions (Hinduism/Buddhism in particular), and think that they're probably closer to the truth than the Judeo-Christo-Islamic strain here in the west. But I still have a lot to learn in that area.
On that note, I think I am going to go to bed, since I have to be up for work in three hours.
But we can pick this up later if you like.

Can someone tell me how to put images in a post?
There are things that can only be told without words.

Thank you! Now all I need is a digital camera. Maybe if I made a wishlist with nothing but a digital camera on it I'd get one. I'm not above whoring naked pictures of myself to get a camera with which...

It's hilarious how I always seem to update when I'm procrastinating writing a Hinduism paper. The really funny thing is that I actually want to write this paper, in theory, at least. The really, really funny thing is that my apparent definition of "funny" is so far removed from what I assume to be the rest of the world's.

Actually the one true religion is where the masses worship the little stone garden gnome who stands by my fireplace.
I swear to gnome it is the truth.

Oh yeah, just a little tidbit of knowledge that you may or may not have known: rats are the companions of the god Ganesha. Since they can gnaw through almost anything and Ganesha is the god of removing obsticals...its a perfect fit!
