My friend who lives in Spain sent me an email asking what the general opinion regarding the election in America was. I thought my response summed up my feelings pretty well.

I can tell you MY opinion. I don't know about the
rest of the country. It's sort of like waking up next
to the man you've married twenty-two years after the
fact, finding all these ticket stubs to fetish clubs
in his pockets, and realizing you don't know him at
all.
Here's my opinion:
God fucking damn it. Seriously. Fuck. What is wrong
with us? Americans are dumbed-down, pacified fucks.
Four legs good, two legs bad. And the youth vote (the
turn-out everyone thought was going to sway things in
Kerry's favor) was NO higher than it was in 2000. My
generation have been bred on Television and Go-gurt
and the promise of a materially comfortable future,
now they search out XXX-treme sports to fill the void
of experience and thrill with contrivances. There is
no sense of individuality. Most kids are concerned
only with how they fit into society. When you have no
sense of self, you have no motivation to try to change
things. "The Vote" only works if each person has a
sense of self and opinions. Kids just aren't
concerned with what happens. Why should they be when
they're trying to get that great office job that'll
keep them in SUVs until oil runs out and make sure to
keep their future kids in Television and Go-gurt until
they're ready to go off and get a great office job of
their own. Fuck this. Fuck these Americans.
Oh, and religion is the root of all evil. Fuck
religion too. Seriously. America is a country full
of snivling, fearful, opressive religious assholes.
That's what happens when your country is founded by a
bunch of snivling, fearful, opressive religious
assholes. Fuck religion. Fuck money. Fuck 11/11
states voting to BAN gay marriage. Fuck no one saying
anything about it but Jon fucking Stewart.
I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore.

and alright, and i agree individuals are accountable, personal responsibility is lacking in mass numbers all around...
did you go to ohio? i didn't.
1. Run off to a faraway land and start a colony of US expatriots made up of writers and artists.
2. Begin laying extensive groundwork for a violent revolution by writing inflamatory manifestos and striving to point out all of the ways that current US culture suffocates and kills the very freedoms that we are supposed to be representing to the rest of the world
Staying here and working toward some sort of peaceful betterment of society doesn't strike me as a profitable enterprise right now. There are too many conservatives around with too much power to stand up as a left-wing radical without some sort of strong financial backing. I'm too poor to start a liberal newsletter or to fund any enterprises that could wield some sort of political and or social clout. The bible-thumpers have money and loud stupid voices. I truly am worried that the only way to stop this slide to the extreme right is through violent revolution. Most people here in the states are too stupid, fat and lazy to care about what goes on outside of their living rooms. As long as they have Joey, CSI, Jessica Simpson, Lindsey Lohan, Trick Daddy and all of that pop culture shit to immerse their puerile brains in while they feed like cows on garbage and fast food filled with artificial ingredients and meat products cut from animals so full of chemicals they qualify as toxic waste (sorry, I got on a rant) they won't do shit except sit back and watch the world turn. Our stupid isolationist foreign policy will make pariahs of us all, if it hasn't already and the sheep out here don't give a shit as long as they can graze as consumers in shopping centers drowning their reality in a sea of mindless, repetitive distraction.
I have little faith left in the human race. I believe in some of the kids I teach, and I try to make the rest care too, but it wears me down...
What I do is try to show these kids that this country isn't really what everybody thinks it is. It's a lie. You can't grow up to be President unless you're fucking rich and a goddamn liar, and the fucking American dream is dead. It's up to the younger generations to stand up and reclaim it before it is too late, but the bad guys already have their claws in them. Kids in our culture are brought up on the most vapid and meaningless television and music and we just stand back and accept it while they are brainwashed into little consumer slaves who only exist to put money into the pockets of wealthy business owners and buy tons of shit they don't really need in a quest to find some sort of false happiness in this life.
Its sad but true that the number of people who know that there is something seriously wrong with the way we live in this country is very little...
