What the fuck is wrong with people?
I understand that Michael Jackson was a complex person but I don't get the disrespectful mockery of his untimely death.
He was an amazingly talented person who was not allowed much of a childhood by his own account, yet he placed himself in history alongside Elvis Presley and John Lennon in terms of talent and ingenuity.
Andrew Sullivan's piece in the Atlantic says it well.
Let's try to keep a balanced perspective of the brilliant young artist vs. the sad remaining person. I believe he was trying to engage these early pubescant males in a manner where he felt he was their peer. It's wrong, and he was sick.
He should've lived long enough to get treatment, get sober, get fat, and put out some nice ballads.
I'm remembering the beautiful boy who walked onto the television and dazzled me all of those years ago.

I'm always grateful for our ability to discuss certain personal things in our lives with each other. The ease with which I'm able to do this is a tribute to how much I trust you and feel a closeness that shows me how real our friendship is.
I'm able to recognize the difference between relapsing with my depression and simply feeling sad. I think(hope) what I'm feeling at this time is simply sadness.
