I've gotta make positive comments more often. Here I go and say something nice about Bryn and am rewarded with Jazmin. Fucking beautiful.
Say it ain't so Sammy - please. I started to lose faith in this guy not when everybody else did (the steroid allegations a year or two ago) but a little further back when Sammy decided he was too big for Chi-town, and wanted to be a Yankee. Happily even Steinbrenner wouldn't pay that much, and he got stuck - but that in itself was enough to teach me that Sammy wasn't a good ol' fashioned ballplayer - he's an entrepreneur just like the rest of 'em. It was really funny to watch the interviews Sportscenter got though, Canseco says it's racism, Reilly says it's enough to make Sammy never exist as far as Cooperstown's concerned, etc, etc. But the best has gotta be Letterman - Dave came up with "Pete Rose bets Sammy he'll get off." I'm not a huge fan of Dave, but he does kick Leno's ass. Hard.
It's kind of funny that here my anticipation for this trip is huge, but I'm putting off all the little things that need to get done like finding out insurance stuff and the like. Just goes to show ya - the administrative paperwork behind the fun stuff is always a bitch. I miss the days when the 'rents did all this for me. To be young again.... sigh.
Anyway- it's officially summer in Iowa - it took me three mosquito bites to get from my car to my house door (about 50 feet). WEST NILE VIRUS ! AUGHHH!
A friend in China told me SARS is a lot like West Nile was here last summer. All over the country people think that it's this fatal epidemic when in fact it only really hurts the very young and very old and those with weak immune systems. Heh.
Anyway, once again, nothing real important to say here, just rambling for the sake of hearing myself speak...er, write...er, whatever.
Oh yeah - if you're fixin' to be in the Midwest roundabout the 4th of July - make your way into Northeast Iowa - from there you may be able to see the fireballs and havoc that will be Pyrat's send off party - having nothing to do with patriotism and independence.
