Halloween being my favorite time of year and only a little over a week away I thought I'd do a blog about some movies every horror fan should check out
WARNING: Sorry guys, very long blog!

This is exactly what the title suggests. It's a little slow getting to the good parts, but the story is engaging and the characters are awesomely dysfunctional. The main character Chris is just your average albeit nerdy guy with no Halloween plans. He finds an invitation to a "murder party" blowing in the wind and decides to go. The "party" is being thrown by struggling artist types who are going to artistically murder whoever is dumb enough to show up. Hilarity and LOTS of gore ensue! The gore is quite good with some OMG! moments and the end makes up for sitting through the slower bits.

Everything good about indie horror. May is a strange woman whose best friend is a doll. She's never had a boyfriend, has no real friends, and is socially awkward in general. May has a thing for body parts, she notices people with pretty parts. After being emotionally hurt one to many times she decides if she can't find a friend she'll make one. This is an awesome movie. It's well acted, sad, twisted, funny, gory, etc.

This is a foreign film, although there is now an american remake called Let Me In, which I haven't seen yet. The foreign version is quite good and seems to follow the original book pretty well. The movie follows Oskar, a kid who gets bullied all the time and is a loner. He meets Eli, a strange little "girl" who doesn't feel cold and only comes out at night. With all the vampire hype lately this movie is extremely refreshing to the genre. No silly creatures that sparkle in the sunlight here.

A zombie flick, but not in the traditional sense. Two high school rebels are skipping class in an abandoned hospital of some sort. While exploring they find a sealed room and within it a naked dead girl strapped to a table. They first think it's just a body, but then she begins to move. Here the friends have a conflict of interests; one wants to call the police, the other wants to keep her. The concept is intriguing and there's some good gore and OMG! moments. This movie is oh so sick, but in a good way.
Happy Halloween!

Thank you for pointing me in the direction of some good films. Been wanting to experience something new. I'd seen ads for May before, but I never had a chance to check it out. Sounds really good. ^.^
