In less than an hour I leave for the airport. Around 8pm tonight I will be standing in the Las Vegas airport. By 9pm I will be neck deep in nerds.

This promises to be a fun weekend.

Enjoy your nerd orgy.

Humor is a tricky thing. It can be hard to tell when someone is telling you something just to make someone (themselves or others) laugh. This becomes even more difficult in a world of pure text where you have to fill in the blanks of voice and body language with your own imagination. The internet is a world of shadow and misconception wearing a brilliant...

Good to hear at least someone is on the same page. Sarcasm is a hard read.

I have reached a new pinnacle (or depth, depending on your point of view) of my nerdom. I have transcended the confines of PnP role-playing, and MMO role-playing, and managed to do both at once. Yes, members of my EQ2 have organized a game of Dungeons and Dragons which we play in game. We meet up at another players home in game, stand around his...

I had to read your journal like 3 times to understand what you meant. So...not a LAN party- not someone's actual home. It's some dude's virtual house? That's pretty um...I have no words. It sounds like something MrPRock would do.

You remember that last post? Look like I spoke too soon. I leave for Round 2 of arm surgery in about 3 hours. It's been a pretty crappy week.

I am obviously late. How did round two go?

I am terribly sorry to hear it went badly. Hope the upcoming is not so bad. Relaxing for a couple weeks is good though. Wish I could pull that one off.

I'm back from the hospital. It wasn't a bad experience, relatively speaking. It looks like the doctor did a great job on my arm. No central line, or new access in another part of my arm was installed. He was able to fix the original site, and I got to sleep through the whole thing. I got back around 2 in the afternoon, and i've...

It is amazing how quickly things can go from awesome to crappy. This took, in total, about 3 hours, but I knew the minute it began. All it takes is one person who puts faith in their own experience overrides their ability to listen. In this case it was a dialysis tech whose absolute faith that she knew the behavior of dialysis access' better than...

I'll be thinking about you this week, and trying to not get distracted by how retarded our medical system is.

Yeah, _Tab pretty much took the cake on this one.

Have you ever seen something that you know is not a big deal, but you also know is going to ruin your whole day?

Yeah, me too.

For the last four months or so I have had a "normal" sleep schedule. I go to bed around midnight, and I wake up around 8am. I did this because of a change in my dialysis schedule. Normally I have had late shifts. I would show up at dialysis around 5 or 6, and get home around 9 or 10. This schedule has always worked...

Your presence, at your leisure, will be required here.

And that all sounds monstrously inconvenient.

The best thing about family - sometimes they make you cookies.

It has been far too long since I had homemade cookies.

Imma stop typing now and eat more cookies.

A troop is not a policy, and I can support the first without supporting the latter.
