Ok, NOW I have internet. The douchebag that came by on Monday pretty much attached a bunch of cables and ran out the door while I was forming the question, "Hey, why can't I connect to anything?" Fortunately he managed to drop the customer support number while he was getting the fuck out of Dodge. Comcast support was actually very helpful, and arranged for somebody to come out today to get things working.
Cable Installer #2 arrived today around 1 - an hour earlier than scheduled. He got everything working, and even stayed to make sure everything worked. It required the reactivation of a couple of wall outlets and some fancy wiring, but he got it all working. I am once more in communication with the world.
