My mother and her friends have begun experimenting in Foreign Currency trading. They've got a nice little system set up, and it's bringing them in a nice bit of money. I've agreed to help her out by watching her account (she's only doing virtual money at this point. Play accounts until she gets a feel for trading), and doing some of the buying and selling. For a data-junkie like myself it's a lot of fun to watch. Currencies fluctuate, rising and falling like the waves on the beach. Steady and determined, the value of the account keeps rising from every fall of the USD vs other nations' dollars. I'd seen the values as low as -300 to bounce back to +500 before I sold the trade, and took my money. Or virtual money, as it were.
Today I set a few trades in motion before going off to raid in Everquest 2. Someone in the raid mentioned that tonight was the State of the Union address. I laughed, and commented that I do my best to avoid listening to King George speak. It makes my brain bleed, and then I have to punch things. No good, I said, can come of George opening his mouth.
After the raid I logged into the Exchange account to see how the trades were going. -$1,500. Way to go George.
Still, the dollar vs. Euro/Pound/Yen makes a slow but steady climb from the damage done by the words of an idiot. The values of the trades are up about -$1,400. Since this is play money it doesn't worry me at all. It's not like I can't make rent because the President is a dumb ass, but I imagine for folks playing this game for real it could be a really bad day.
Way to go George.
