So I guess my burning political question is - Why? What's the point of the behavior? Why the theats to Iran? Why the disrespecful treatment of the Chinese President?

Is it an attempt to revive the cold war? This is an adminstration that grew up during the upheavel of the mid-20th century. Do they miss it? Maybe their ideas of economics and sociology are all built on the struggle between Super powerful nations? Sadly, I don't think a U.S. vs. China struggle would go the same way as the U.S. vs U.S.S.R struggle went, and that wasn't all that pretty.

I imagine part of Bush's attitude is knowing that whatever happens, he won't have to pay for it. It's always the millions of people that are supposed to represented by a leader that suffer for that leader's mistakes. And even if the leader in charge of the U.S. ends up humiliated in defeat, it won't be him. He's out of here in 2 years. He just has to act like a prick until he's out of office, and let the poor loser after him take the heat for it.

I get the feeling the Republicans are going to hand over the Presidency to the Democrats next election. Why should their party pay the price for their mistakes?
