I almost love my family tonight. Almost. They were polite and cheerful for one night, and for one night I think they're all great. Throughout the night there were demonstrations of attitudes and behaviors that, over time, would drive me nutty. But tonight, it's cool.

My mom missed Christmas with the family. She has the plague, and decided to stay at her place in El Segundo. I'm staying at my uncle's place in Orange County, where the rest of the clan gathered to eat pig and exchange presents. I grabbed her presents and some turkey, and drove Christmas to her. Being sick is no reason to miss out on the festivities, and a craptastic way to spend the holiday. So I saw my mom, and I survived a night with my family. I'll remember tonight as a good time.
