the wind never changes direction here
and i liken it to so many things in my life
perhaps every life
that nothing really ever changes
it may deviate for a short period of time
but it never really changes
stuck in this self dug rut
flailing ever so often
to make sure drowning completely is avoided
and surfacing long enough to remind myself
that it can be done
maybe someday i'll be able to stay afloat
for more than just a few months at a time
but addiction is addiction
and it's quite apparent that
it will be the death of me
