Antisocial Networking

I need to make more of an effort to post, and be active on here. I tend to spend all my time on twitter, or other places, and neglect to post on SG. Lately I've been feeling more and more that the big social platforms are awful, and that I would rather leave and be part of a better community if only one existed. All the while my SG page is sitting here unused.

So what's new? Well, after a lot of visits to a lot of doctors (Pain clinic, dietitian, podiatrist, rhumatologist, spinal specialist...) and after multiple blood tests, MRI, physio etc, I finally have a diagnosis - Fybromyalgia. There's part of me that feels they've diagnosed me with that because they don't know what else to call it, but having read up about it, it does fit with a lot of my symptoms. Either way, it feels good to actually have a name that I can give to it now. I feel validated.

I have been advised to try joining an online fybromyalgia support group, but it seems like that mostly involves Facebook groups, and I hate that place. Maybe Reddit is another option but I'm not sure about that site either. I guess that brings me back to my point that all the major social platforms are awful. But what can you do? I need to get out there more, I need to meet people, make friends, be social... I am useless at it in real life, I need online places to be social, and that unfortunately means being on social platforms that I don't like. Except SG obviously, which is great, so I should make more of an effort.

I'm still trying to figure out what type of exercise and activity I can manage, it's been difficult because my health has been getting worse over the last couple of years. I tried some pilates and yoga classes a few months ago, both to meet people and get some exercise, but I just ended up hurting myself every week and taking too long to recover. I'm trying to just to some light resistance training at home, which seems ok for now.

While i am sorry you have to deal with having fibromyalgia but i am glad the doctors have found what is wrong so they can provide the right treatment.  I know what you mean about feeling like the doctors only making a certain diagnosis because they don't know what else to call it. I have suffered from chronic back and neck pain since 2000 and the doctors said it was just wear and tear and while they didn't know exactly what it waa they said it was not curable and what most likely get worse, which it has. They are now saying i have Osteochondritis which is imflamatikn of the discs in in spine. I pray you get the support and treatment you need! 🙏❤
