Everyone should come over..

1. Lots of wine (some expensive too).
2. Big pot of vegan chili on the stove.
3. New Yo La Tengo record.

Let the she-nanigans ensue! Who's bringing twister?

Hey Spacemen,

Good news - I will be attending our SG prom! I spent nearly an hour going through the SG Canada hook-up page yesterday, and it sounds like its starting to pan out nicely. I know I haven't been around that long, and have somehow managed to miss our bowling escapades, but if there is anything at all I can do to help you guys out with this event just let me know! I'm only an hours drive from Toronto and find I spend most weekends there anyway. I might even see you at Yo la Tango!
eris23:
when i get home, have this party again and i will make tortillas from scratch. OH YEAH i am that cool...

6 weeks till prom baby
i wish i cared about my highschool prom this much, but my classmates were such assholes. this is much better, because i didn't have to go school for 13 years to be able to go.

I really should stop drinking so much. The previous post didn't make a whole lot of sense.

However, I have read some pretty interesting stuff lately on chaos and complexity theory that seems to hint at the idea that there really isn't such a thing as "pure chance" when dealing with systems that are so intertwined and involved.

One the main Intelligent Design ideas is...

alright alright. i'm quite drunk right now (no big surprise) and i thought i'm rant and rave here.

i've recently had a rather shocking experience. i've been a rather strong believer in natural selection and evolution (and preached it on occasion) but there seems to be some rarther disturbing evidence linking the development of life on earth to some sort of intelligent design.

i would...

But such a structure can be achieved by pure chance. The earth is sooooo big and there's been such a long time of development that it happenned accidentally. It's just like the odds of winning the lottery, somebody is going to win it eventually and the chance for everybody is the same.
Also, recent experiments with random DNA pairings have shown that DNA can be used to solve large complex problems simply using random pairings. The trick behind the random pairings are that there's so many the odds themselves point towards there being at least one (if not millions) of copies of the solution.

Turns out I still have a job. hehe.

My boss did bring my letter down to Human Resources though, it was pretty funny.. I have an official pink slip.

SGProm seems to be coming together. I'm still not sure if I can actually make it, but I'll see what I can do.

Yay prom... we are gonna dance dance dance mofo! biggrin

(but really I am a horrible dancer, so hopefully everyone will drink enough alcohol so they don't notice heheh)
stendec:
Well, I hope that's a good thing all in all.

Speaking of "I wish I was at SGProm", Nolle and I are getting together tomorrow and later we were thinking of checking out some of the venues. Do you want to hook up and come with?

i've just received an advance copy of radiohead's upcoming "hail to the thief" and it's quite good.

wow. it's a good part of the year for upcoming records. yo la tengo, radiohead, white stripes, blur (well, it's only so-so - typical blur).

yo la tengo's in toronto on may 14, i can't wait.

i gave my boss a letter of resignation today for april fool's....

adaptation kicked ass! i love that film-within-a-film. if you get a chance, check out CQ; not as twisted, but good for the art/life reflection themes.

i got tricked yesterday by someone giving me fake gossip that almost made me give real, dangerous gossip. i always forget it's April Fool's. could be cause i'm a fool every day. tongue

books books books.

i spent all day yesterday at the reference library and, i swear,... it's my mecca. i pick random aisles and let my fingers glide wistfully through volume upon volume, randomly choosing books on: linguistics, politics, art history, metallurgy etc.

if only i could read them all.

fyi: the movie moonlight mile is quite good. i recommend it to everyone.

i love the library. that's where i spent my sunday too. my boyfriend likes to go there to study but i can't study there. the temptation to explore is just too much. i love going into the stacks none of my shit fer brains classmates ever use and running my fingers down the spines...
i checked out a copy of "shakespeare and company" that hadn't been checked out since my mother was in high school. (my school still stamps a card in the back, old skool style...it's funny seeing it there, 10/72 and then nothing until 4/03...) and "the bridge of san luis rey" which i'll probably read this afternoon before I meet my friends...
26oo:
Really? I haven't been to a library in ages...well, to study to read books that is.
You can read them all, become a professional book reader.

sg is bad for me (or good, depending on what you think of the following).

i work full-time. i mean full-time full-time, benefits and all - the Full She-Bang (capitals intended).

i'd have to say that over the past 2-3 weeks i have literally done around 2 or 3 work related functions.

one of them involves checking email.

anywho.

i've never kept a journal or...

Sometimes you just get bored of work and you really need a break. I suggest you take an extra long weekend and really pamper yourself (arcade, bars, hookers (or whatever floats your boat, mine is arcades)).
After that you'll be ready to get back to work as you're refreshed and you'll have a ton of stuff to do because work will have piled up smile

I second Darkshade's comment.... sometimes you just need to rejeuvenate, burnout is a killer on work productivity. Sometimes, journalling can just be a great way to blow off steam from the stresses of the everyday, which can get pretty mundane, depending on your line of work..... damn I want benefits!

wow, is that a new pic? thought i'd catch my more natural pose, you know, "me-in-the-wilderness-with-wine-glass".

i have a confession (well, two actually);

1. i'm a zelda freak. i just got the new version for gamecube and i'm pretty sure my sleep cycles are about to drop drastically.

2. tuesday's too cute for words.

well, i guess the second isn't so much a confession but...

i adore your new pic. I want a copy of it to put on my fridge next to the Sleater-Kinney bumper sticker and pizza menu...

p.s. Zelda rules but I don't have a Cube.

Funny, your suggestion for my printer, because I got really frustrated with my old one in December, and it was old so I took it out back and hurled it... put the one I have now on my visa, it's an Epson Stylus Photo 820.... I can't figure out what the problem could be, worked fine just last Friday *shrugs* but today, after staying up all night writing a ten page essay for Sociology of the Family I thought I would just print it up and be on my way to class but I put the paper in and it appears to be printing, but the paper comes out blank. This strikes me as a problem since the ink monitor is showing that there is in fact a good supply of ink andI have checked the connection.... *shrugs* I need some tech support! frown

i dislike my job.

i realize that it's not unusual for someone to dislike their job, and believe me, there is nothing particularly special about my dislike either.

if i could make this journal entry more interesting by filling it with tales of woe, mistreatment, horse's head's left on my desk etc. i would; but alas... i cannot lie.

i think i might know what...

cheer up doll and put your application in somewhere else.
tuesday:
I had this nightmare once where I was a cashier supervisor at a can't be named upscale discount department store (*cough* Target *cough) for almost a year and lost my soul and all faith in humanity from dealing with computers that never worked, teenagers that didn't show up for their shifts, a food service company that never fucking delivered anything that I ordered, supplies that never showed up, an outragous number of credit card applications to get a day, dipshit rednecks who didn't understand that there were company wide policies in place for a reason and no, I could not change them 'just this once' and a manager who was convinced it was all my fault.
Because the stress my health took a nose dive and I ended up in the ER at least a dozen times that year (Quinn was not there. That makes me sad...) and developed an ulcer, resulting in me losing forty pounds in two months and gaining a pile of medical bills that I wouldn't be able to pay if I quit the job from hell. No one could stand being around me because I was pissed off all the time. All of my friends either left me in my misery or wanted to check me into a 'treatment center'.

...and then when I woke up, none of my clothes fit and someone from the hospital keeps calling me...

I've decided to crunch a few numbers.

Bush is asking for an additional $75 billion from Congress to help fund this war. Now, i haven't managed to find any information for what this money is earmarked for specifically, but i would imagine that humanitarian aid is low on the list.

So, without further ado:

According to the OECD (Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development) the...

well well. after perhaps the most tumultuous sat. that i've ever spent in my life (gosh-darned hangovers) i've begun to realize that drinking *may not* be my thing.

and for the few requests as to what actually happened on friday night (and of which i'm very embarrassed about), here's the low-down:

1. i seemed to have lost everyone. how someone loses an entire group of...
