So the scenario paintballing this weekend was a complete joke, the game was moved from an army training base to a regular paintball site due to the MOD needing the facility at short notice, this wasn't the problem, the problem was we still had to use clear paintballs just because the organiser had aquired loads for use at the MOD site and still needed to flog it. Problem is that this mean't playing on bounces, meaning you were out even if the paintball didn't break, all this did was reduce the last 2 days play to little more than a kids game of guns with grown men shouting "I shot you" "No you didn't I shot you" it was a joke. The paint also cost 35 a box and we had no choice but to use the organiser sold clear paint, I usally pay 22 a box for basic grade paint, so because of these 2 reasons I'm not playing the last 2 days, would cost me 70 for 2 boxs of paint plus travel and food, not worth it!

On the plus side here's the first song I wrote, much improved. I put it on Facebook and my cousin (who's a bloody talented pianist, as in he can play the most complex pieces in the world) said he would try to write some music for it so happy days biggrin To give some perspective the song quite simply addresses the curse of our own sentience, how it makes us uniquely aware of our fate and how we can do nothing reverse the "gift" of intelligence.

A Curse?

So here we are thrown together in the fray
So few ask the questions and show the signs of our dismay
Chronophobia is abated through bold materialism
But nothing we can buy will prevent our cataclysm

So foolish we must seem in pursuit of selfish dreams
We annihilate each other through a blitz of anguished screams
Our sentience is hailed as a triumph of natural life
But I say its a curse that causes suffering and strife

Why must we live this life so cursed?
To know our fate and how it cannot be reversed
A curse, A curse, that cannot be reversed
A curse, A curse, that cannot be reversed
Is oblivion our fate or to re-join the universe?

Our ship is sailing on an ill-fated course
The irrationality of significance we must divorce
Were all stuck hear together as our existence drains away
Some seek to halt our quests with fake divinity
Is the black the end or can we find serenity?

Why must we live this life so cursed?
To know our fate and how it cannot be reversed
A curse, A curse, that cannot be reversed
A curse, A curse, that cannot be reversed

Our bloody history shows fallacy, hate and greed
Our true measure is how we reduce human suffering
Do what you can before the last reprieve!

Why must we live this life so cursed?
To know our fate and how it cannot be reversed
A curse, A curse, that cannot be reversed
A curse, A curse, that cannot be reversed
Is oblivion our fate or to re-join the universe?
A curse, A curse, that cannot be reversed
A curse, A curse, that cannot be reversed

And another new song, which is about the surveillance of our communications that has recently been revealled, although it's completely unsurprising to me and is very much a "no shit Sherlock" thing, it's still remarkable how we don't have full scale rioting because of it, but I guess we've really all become to comfortable in happy little lives to give a shit right? I must stop there otherwise I will go into a full scale rant tongue
Though note the references to Edward Snowden and Prism and to older punk songs about the subject (Vanilla Sex by NOFX, The Defence by Bad Religion, 1984 by Anti-Flag and Radio Clash by The Clash) it's not like we weren't warned wink

GCHQ Watching You

American lapdog in a cage
The pen leaks ink onto the page
No need to kick down my front door
When all my words saved to your core

Vanilla Sex, The Defence and 1984?
The governments already in your bedroom wall
No chance to conceal yourself, to steal yourself and break away
They dont need their cameras anymore in this endless war

NSA coming your way, Mountains in the light of day
CIA coming after you, GCHQ watching you

No rest for the wicked, for they never sleep
Their leviathan preys on us by day and night
Hands of law have sorted through your identity
Our lives in the light through their refraction device

NSA coming your way, Mountains in the light of day
CIA coming for you, GCHQ watching you

NSA coming your way, Mountains in the light of day
CIA coming for you, GCHQ watching you
NSA coming your way, Mountains in the light of day
CIA coming for you, GCHQ watching you
