The Year End Review 2003!!!
Good times... lots of fun... both highs & lows pretty much sums up my year of 2003. It was definitely a good one... and lots of this stuff I will never forget. Below you will find the highlights (good & bad) of 2003 :
January / February
Unemployed... collecting unemployment was nice & not working for the 1st time in over 5 years was weird. Toured w/ Girlush Figure on their winter 2003 tour! Girlush Figure opened 2 shows with their future labelmates Toxic Narcotic out on the East Coast. Great shows! Valentine's Day Punk Rock show @ the Brewery in Troy w/ Legbone and Girlush Figure was off the hook... even with the foot of snow we got. Horrible winter... it snowed, and snowed & snowed all winter in Ohio. I was actually glad I was unemployed & wasnt having to drive to work thru that crap everyday. Saw yet another killer Mindless Self Indulgence show with a killer band by the name of TubRing opening. Awesome!!!
March / April
I moved back home with my parents cause of my money situation. I got my job back with all my benefits & vacation reinstated!
I caught the Menstrual Tramps out in Indy probly for the last time... cause I think they broke up! I had the experience of doing my 1st national show... bringing The Eyeliners to Dayton & the show was a huge success! Punk Nite 2 happened on March 29th in Troy... and a killer show was had. I was even serenaded by Girlush Figure singing "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston. An extremely memorable show!!! More Girlush Figure weekend shows!
May / June
Girlush Figure played their last 2 shows w/ Sticklet (SG Tryst) on drums on May 16th & 17th. Good times... but emotional weekend for me! I saw the Dixie Chicks! Amazing! I went to Richmond to visit Tryst and Raquel in mid June... then shot out to Baltimore to catch the debut of Girlush Figure's new drummer Rita Mae. She rocked!!!
July / August
I went to Richmond 4th of July weekend to visit my dear friends again! A whole weekend of chaos & fun... power half hour, skinny dipping in the closed pool, naked pictures, good times for sure!!! Tryst came to Ohio to visit me the following weekend... went to see TubRing in Cincy... then went to our 1st SG event... the SG Cedar Point Day... then off to Columbus for Lollapalooza. What a weekend that was! Tryst becomes a SG... July 11th to be exact! My brother Steve got married Aug. 2nd. It was nice seeing lots of family from both my Mom & Dad's side of the family. I saw Joan Jett @ the Ohio State Fair. Toured w/ Girlush Figure for most of August. It didn't take me long to click w/ their new drummer Rita Mae. She's so awesome!!! Punk Nite 3 happened & was da bomb. We got to stay at Babes in Toyland drummer Lori Barbero's house when I was on tour w/ GF in Minneapolis. Went to the Mall Of America. GF played EstroJam in Chicago where we had our own dressing room & backstage passes & everything. One of the better experiences of the tour! Surreal! Cities I visited on tour this summer included: Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Chicago, Springfield, Troy, Bloomington, Detroit (changed to Ypsilanti though cause of the blackout), Indianapolis, Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Des Moines, Iowa City, Kansas City & Wichita. Good times all around!
September / October
I caught The Distillers in Cincy. I also caught Juliana Hatfield's new project Some Girls. Both were great shows! Die Cheerleader Die came to Ohio for 2 shows in Oct. I caught Toxic Narcotic in Cincy... their 1st time back to southern Ohio in years. Squeaky from GF came to visit... and to witness Punk Nite 4 in late October. Yet another killer Punk Nite show! I saw Kittie yet again in one of the smallest venues I've ever seen them in. It was great!
November / December
I went to Baltimore to see friends & say goodbye to Squeaky. Hung out w/ Rita Mae... caught GF's last show! They broke up!
Squeaky moves to Cali! Another kick ass MSI / TubRing show!!! Dec. 1st @ 7:36pm I became an Uncle... Alexander James Durian (7lbs 9oz) is his name!!! He's the most precious little baby I've ever seen! Tears of joy!!! Tryst and her roommate Raquel visited me here in Ohio in December. We went to a punk show... then to goth nite @ 1470's... then I shot naked pics of the girls. Am I lucky or what? [MEMBER=Tryst's] new x-mas set debuts on the site on Dec. 21st. Its the 1st set that I've actually shot that SG used. Woo Hoo!!! Good times!!!
