I had a very hard day at work yesterday. I had to tell my team that we were restructuring and that we would be reducing significantly, and that many of them would be affected. It was a horrible feeling. Looking around the room, many had a look on their face best described as looking like their dog just died.
I have mentioned my special friend before, a woman to whom I have become very close. She works elsewhere in the company, but knew what was going to happen that day. I was sitting at my desk at the end of the day feeling quite glum, I looked up, and there she was! I almost cried. She held my hand and said she had come by to see how I was doing, asked me how it went, and listened. I then walked her to the train, and we talked some more. I really appreciated how considerate she was and thanked her profusely. I sent her a text afterwards saying how much I appreciated her consideration, and how I was lucky to have her as such a close friend.
With this I have come to appreciate how the support of those who are close to you can make a real difference in your life.
I'm happy your special friend is there for you (especially in your hour of need)!! Sometimes holding hands is enough.
