I wanted to talk really quick about my favorite book of all time. Ive never reviewed a book on here so my firt one might as well be my favorite. The Book is Called House Of Leaves By Mark Z. Danielewski.

Now it was his first book and it is one of the scariest works of fiction Ive ever read. Bare with me while I try to give a quick synopsis. It is a manuscript written by a blindman about a documentary that was about a haunted house and the family who lived in the house. It is edited by a man named Johnny who lived in the same complex as the manuscripts author. It jumpes between Johnny and the family in the house. It sounds overbearing and hard to following and when looking at the layout of the book it can look a little dizzying.

But as you start off it slowly draws you in and have no problem with the narrative, you might even have the same expierence as poor Johnny as every character in the book descends into maddness. The stuff inside the house is very menacing and unearthly where there nis a ton of darkness and always something evil just waiting out of sight. It serves as a testement to the writer who crafts a very good scenes but allows your imagination to do with what you will.

You also truly learn to care and identify with the characters, if not Johnny, then the family in the house. It is so worth your time to pick this up and read it. I would suggest multiple times, you get something new each time.

It is also interesting to note that the author is the brother to the rock singer Poe, who was popular in the 90's and earlie 2000. She put out a album called Haunted which serves very much as a companion piece. Either can be enjoyed without the benefit of the other but together you get a deeper understanding of both projects. The reason the book and album were created was due to a incident where Mark and Poe found some recording of their deceased father in the attic of their moms house. Some was work dictation amongst other things. They both were emotionally unsure about how to handle the feeling of their father almost being like a ghost to them. To cope Poe made her album Haunted and Mark made House Of Leaves.

Anyway both work are definetly worth your time.

House of Leaves ruined all other books for me, and I hope it's happy with itself.

God, I love it though.
