I feel the same way about quality over quanitity where friends are concerned...and in pretty much everything else as well. I've put distance between myself and a lot of the people I used to hang out with because I felt they were selfish and didn't really care enough about me, or just weren't about what I'm about in a deeper sense. It can get lonely sometimes.
As for not meeting enough members of the opposite sex...I go to a school where there are 5 girls for every guy, and there is also an unproprtionate number of gay men So I know how it is.
