We found another scorpion in the house. This time, though, it was under different circumstances. Last time, when I found Steve, he was hiding half-under a Dell box flap when we moved in. This time our new guest was sprawled out on the kitchen floor.

I scooped him up into a plastic cup and watched him for a little while. My room mates boyfriend thought he might have stepped on him. The poor little fellow didnt look well; he wouldnt move much, except for when I pushed him around with the end of a straw. Soon after I noticed that he was missing part of one leg. It looked like an old injury that had healed over. I put him into a different plastic container one with a lid misted some water in there, and dropped a cricket in. I thought Id keep an eye on him to see if he recovers.

He already seems to be doing better. We caught him about four hours ago, and already hes moving around on his own without any convincing from the business-end of a McDonalds straw. He hasnt touched the cricket yet, but he might not be hungry or up to doing much. I put a piece of cardboard in there so he can hide, for now.

If he lives, Ill probably keep him. I wasnt going to, but after some thought I reasoned that a scorpion with one missing leg might have a slight disadvantage in the wild, and keeping him here might make whatever is left of his life easier.

Poor guy! frown

I was called out to Mesa this evening to fix a customer's router. No big deal. They couldn't turn on their old router...no wonder: they'd broken the power switch. Oh well! It was a Sunday night adventure, and some overtime on my next paycheck.

I'm an Internet Cowboy.
