I cant play it until Ive taken it in to the guitar shop next door to have the neck set up. Thatll cost me anywhere from $40 to $100, depending on how good a job Fender did with the frets when they put the thing together. They seem even, I stuck a straight edge across them and it was level, so hopefully itll be on the cheaper side.

Shes far from perfect. There are little spots here and there that are flawed, but I think it gives the bass character, in a way. Or thats just my excuse for the mistakes a first-timer makes. All that really matters is the sound. I tested the electronics and I seem to have wired it correctly. Since its an active system, Im going to have to get used to unplugging the stereo cable, otherwise my 9-volt wont last long.

I definitely feel a certain sense of satisfaction now that Im done, but at the same time theres a part of me that feels empty. Ive been acquiring parts, planning, drawing, designing, waiting for people to help me (could have got it done faster if I wouldnt have done that) and working on it here and there for close to two years.

Its a small shining moment in a weekend thats been the worst Ive had in a long, long time.
