so i wanted to go out and hit a bar last night like a normal person my age would on friday/payday, but i couldn't find anyone to go with me, plus i hear all the really good places to go are not located in san pedro and i didn't want to go very far. having no friends sucks. so i went shopping, which as we all know is next best thing to drinking aside from good sex and good sleep. i bought my very first wrap dress which is also the first dress i have purchased in a couple years, yikes. i also bought my first pair of mildly slutty shoes. i must admit that i felt a bit out of place in the stores targeting my age group. first of all the music in these types of places is horrible, in the first store it was pop music that all kind of blended together so i wasn't sure where one song ended and another began, and in the second store they played classic christmas music covered by the pop stars of right this second. who the hell are the cheetah girls? there was plenty of styles to choose from in both stores i went to but some of the items i saw just made me wonder who the hell could wear them and not look like an idiot. i have also come to the understanding that jeans in these hipster stores are cut to fit the pre-pubescent brothers of the girls they are being marketed to, although i completely understand that most girls who shop in these stores are not five feet tall with thirty-eight inch hips. perhaps the most disturbing thing about my shopping experience was the pair of women in their late thirties decked out in these super trendy clothes combing the racks for jeans with rhinestones and the like. i felt out of place in this store which is primarily marketed toward girls/women between sixteen and twenty-four, i can not imagine how a woman in her late thirties would find it appealing to be browsing the same rack as someone half her age. and i'm not saying that you can't be hip and modern in your thirties, i hope to god that i have some sort of lifeline to fashion when i'm thirty seeing as how i barely have one now, but maybe it is a little inappropriate to venture into the territory of super trendy eighteen year olds. although i define trendy as being the kind of clothes that are sought after one week and donated to the salvation arm the next, clothes that are cute "in the moment" but look mildly ridiculous at best in the keen eyes of hindsight. i don't know, if you think it looks good on you wear it, but i know that there was shit in those stores that i wouldn't have dared to try on for fear of looking like i'm twenty-one going on sixteen and a half.

That's why I only wear plain t-shirts and jeans.
