My grandmother passed away 25 hours ago. Just over 11 months after her husband of 52 years passed away, her heart stopped beating. She didn't even fight it. It was her time and she knew it. Her daughter, my step-mother, celebrates her 50th birthday today. Not much of a celebration anymore.
My mom's mother passed away in Feb 06. My step-mother's dad passed away in Feb 07. And now my step-mother's mom has passed away in Jan 08. Three funerals in three years. I don't like this trend. The next week is going to be long, rough and emotional. I'm OK, but my family isn't, and that's what hurts me. Seeing my step-mother and step-siblings cry will rip me apart, just like it did a year ago.
