ok, so there's my halloween pic contribution. i call it, 'FrankenKitty.' it's kind of hard to see, but it's a picture of my poor cat, Bingsley, right after he had a really nasty abcess removed.
hmmm...how do i feel about the whole public profile debate? i kind of go back and forth on the issue, but honestly, i'm less worried about former friends, lovers, employers, teachers, etc. reading my profile and journal than i am about what other MEMBERS can potentially do with the information i post on the boards and in my profile. i love the boards and interactive journals of this site, but sometimes i think it's a little odd that they're here- on a porn site. since this is a porn site, the atmosphere here is often basically that of a meat market. i flirt with a lot of the people here, and they flirt with me, and although i've made sure to shout in big neon letters all over the site that i'm MARRIED, you still never really know about someone reading too much into it. i also notice female members and sg's being come onto all the time...most of it is just lighthearted flirting, but still- there's always that possibility. sometimes i really wonder about the sg's here, and whether or not they're putting themselves at risk just for having journals or talking to anyone on the site. i love how their journals and boards show the girls more as human beings than as objects, but i also wonder if that's putting them more at risk. most of the problems with stalkers, threats, insults, etc. have come from MEMBERS, not from random people who happen to stumble across someone's profile page. at least that's been the case for me. there's no kind of screening process for the type of people who become members here, so who really knows what type of people some of the members here? and THEY'RE the ones who have my profile info, and have access to the hook-up boards, and might show up to any gathering i may attend and 'steal my sunshine'- heeheehee...
the other day my husband asked me, 'you don't tell anyone there are address or phone number or anything like that, do you?' i said no, and asked why. he said something about having my picture up here and how you never really know, etc. i did tell him that there was a link to our website here (which i originally thought he appreciated!), and he thought i should take that down. i mentioned that my picture is also on our ad (for our dj business) in yahoo classified, and that it links to our website, and he said, 'yeah, but you don't TALK to anyone there...i'm sure most of the people (on sg) are cool, but all you have to do is piss off one psycho...'
so, my conclusion? uh...i guess i don't have one!
