Phase 1 - NYC - Tampa (Spring Hill)

ugggggg
Ok, so that shit kinda sucked. We left at 3AM (the 3 am after we turned back the clocks so more like 4 but whatever) after i had spent about 15 hours bringing some shit to leave at my parents, packing and loading the car and cleaning the apartment for almost 15 hours, going back to my parents to borrow a car to pick up more shit to bring back to their house, going to FedEx to ship a box to FL because there was no room for it, swapping back the cars and then, and stressed out a lot.

The Explorer was packed to the brim. It was now a solid entity, i doubt an ant could have been squished in. I couldnt fit the ferret cage all put together the way i had hoped so the poor little ferrets were resigned to the little travel case frown (more on that later). And aside from the entire inside of the truck being full, including the center console that had a pile of things on it and the passenger seat floor that had bags on it, plus a pillow and the ferret case that went on our laps, there was one of those Roof Rack Cases strapped to the roof of the truck, along with a suitcase and the base for the ferret cage up there too. The fucking leaves of the rear suspention were bent the wrong way and there was only a few inches of travel before the shock was fully compress. So that sucked.

So we left and i was shot from packing and going crazy all day so rachel got shift one while i relaxed. we got to Maryland and i needed a power nap. As soon as i fell asleep a fog rolled in with visibility at about 30-35 feet keeping up to a steady 45 mph, at times even slow for about an hour.

Rachel drove for about 5 hours total and then it was my turn. I got us through the remainder of virginia and all of NC. By that time it was about 6:30 or so, so we stopped at South of the Boarder. I've gone by that place 4031042098412 times, but never actually stopped there. So we stopped at their "Steak House" which i'd expected to be alrightish, maybe, but the food was surprisingly delicious. So much so that we kept the leftovers and piled the center console even higher. I recommend the Prime Rib.

Rachel took over for SC and got us about 1/3 of the way into Georgia. I took over untile half an hour past Gainsville FL and Rachel finished it off.

30 hours later, and minimal power naps in an uncomfortable passenger seat, and we were there.

- 30 hours you say Rob? But it only takes about 16 hours to get to Tampa?

Yes, but the poor ferrets who were supposed to be in their cage in the back of the truck were shoved in their little travel case. So every time we stopped for gas, food, or bathroom, i took the ferrets out for a walk because they really cant be in that case for too long. So every time we stopped was for at least a half an hour to an hour to keep the little fuzzies well. And even that was not evenough. They were sooooo stressed it sucked. Bianca wouldnt eat and was freaking out and took it the worst. I was soooo scared she was getting sick too.

But the first thing i did when i got here at 6:30 in the morning was set up their cage and almost immediately they were better. Bianca ran over and ate and they drank a whole lot of water and their stool is normal consistency.

Now i wait for the package to get here and then its phase 2- Tampa - New Orleans!!!! smile

ooo aaa
