I just corrected the first quiz that I gave to my freshmen. I am not a big quiz fan, but you need to give them once in a while. The quiz actually asked for them to think, and not just spit back facts. About half the class got 100, and the lowest score was 85.
My seniors, on the other hand, are refusing to read, or do any work. They have had two major grades, a quiz and a rough draft of a college application essay. The essay was due two weeks ago and I am still missing a bunch, and about 10 of them got 60 or bellow on a "facts" quiz on the first 30 pages of reading! I have to give out interim grades tomorrow, and almost half of my seniors are going to be failing. It really saddens me that they just don't care.
I am looking forward to being in the middle school soon.
