As usual, I can't sleep. So, I thought I would post something I've been working on. Of course, it's about sleep.
Sleep Lost
Her mind brews espresso at 2am
as she courts sleep in narrow alleyways
darkened by a long departed ambient slumber.
Well oiled, her brain chuffs and touts
worn memories on the black market
while itemizing the splinters
shackled like wet stucco searing
upon her ragging soul.
She smokes her final cigarette
causing cogged gears to grind
in a gnashing pixilated anticipation
reeling anointed sprockets out to
the Holland Tunnel
to the White House
to the Sears Tower
to the Golden Gate and finally to
sleep in
a childhood unlike hers
free from nocturnal transgressions.
This is a borrowed exaltation
dried by the wry
rays of a morning come early.
This is a wake-up call
seething from the machines basement.
She knows
This is the space where melded lids are pried apart
but sleep is finally found.

For about 90 blessed seconds there I was swept away.

It really isn't as bad as it all sounds.
I just don't have much free brain space to think up clever journal entries.
where you is in the great north tundra?(im pretty sure thats not what they call it). ive been up to bc to check out the university for anthropology, i liked it alot.
