I have this unusual and horrible pet peeve that I wish I didnt have. It drives me insane when people make loud chewing noises. This goes beyond the disgusting chewing with your mouth open. For some reason, various people masticate their food longer and/or with more saliva, thus often creating these gross sounds that drive me crazy. In fact, there have been times I have had to excuse myself or find a way to plug my ears while eating or while near someone that goes to town on a big wad of Bubble Yum. Its like fingers on a chalkboard. Sometimes, while people chew loudly, I even get these visuals of their disgusting bolus of food being worked through the mouth and sent down the gullet

Within a cultural group in Bali, eating is considered as nasty as taking a dump and people prefer to eat alone.

I dont need to go as far as the Natives in Bali, and usually, for the most part, I am fine around other people eating. It is just those few.
