I find it slightly entertaining that not only myself, but a wash of other people are all at home on a Saturday night. I'll admit, i get self conscious about my habits, and my tendency to be an introvert. Yesterday, I was talking to a friend of mine about how I think I'm boring, because i don't party, I don't drink, I don't smoke... the sort of social stuff that I assume people find 'exciting'. And she just responded with, 'Sure, that'd be the case if that's what I thought was valuable about a person...' It really hit me hard. I've become so caught up in believing that the people who I will find value in won't feel the same due to the limits I've set for myself, and the lifestyle I've chosen to pursue, and come to find out, my assumption is completely preposterous. No one gives a shit about not drinking, or smoking, or doing drugs, but instead about being a good person, being a good friend. It's more about the core personality than the social habits and details. I find this deeply reassuring.

Personally, my idea of a fantastic evening is one where some sort of event is attended, regardless of what it is, followed by a late night meal or snack in a 24 hour coffee shop, which just happens to be overrun with random, ridiculous characters, and filled with fantastic conversation, laughs, and communication. I really enjoy finding some sort of common ground with people, and fleshing out friendships and relationships around similar interests and tastes, or even around opposing interests and instead around a mutual respect thereof. I haven't found many relationships like that here in San Francisco, and a huge chunk of my work/school schedule prohibits that sort of lifestyle on most nights. But hey, I'm trying to change stuff up a little. Go out more, meet people, do things, have FUN for once.

But then again, I'm at home, on a Saturday night, being kept company by the intartubes, and I'm having a hell of a time right now.

To each their own.
