i can imagine myself someday sitting in a vast, never ending desert... a wasteland that stretches so far that it reaches up and licks the sky. i stare at the horizon, watching the deep blues and violets get way to warm pink and tangerine and even hints of red and gold. The cool breeze across my face knows something no one else does. It's a harbinger of what is coming from across the horizon line, as if it knows to flee before the coming onslaught arrives. Finally, nothing... the still... the calm.

Suddenly, the sky explodes, igniting in a split second with the fires of a thousand hells. White energy tears out across the plain, ripping though the pinks and reds, burning the blues and blacks.

The terrible event gives way to a new understanding as the light penetrates the landscape with it's energy and warmth, and you are no longer afraid or fleeing. The air calms itself and begins to dance and frolic. The sky wraps itself into the light and settles to a crisp light blue, allowing all of the impurities of other colors merely fade away.
