I hereby declare representitive democracy in the United states dead.

With the passing of the most recent energy bill we the people get a longer daylight saving period (WTF? That just means that I'll be late to work earlier in the year one day, and i'll forget to change my clock and show up an hour earlier to work the other!)

It gives tax breaks to oil companies making record profits!!! record!!! 7billion in the last quarter. For anyone who still believes this Iraq conflict wasn't/isn't a war for oil... guess again. (If prices went down, I'd be wrong... but....)

Also sneek previews of the new Iraqi constitution, allude to being heavily based in islamic law.... Any soldier who dies from the point I heard this, sadly is not dying to defend the United States, but is dying to create an Iraqi-Iranian super-Islamic state. It's time to wake up, we've been fooled. There will be no freedom in Iraq, and the direction the US is moving... there won't be any here.

I reccomend reading ( or hopefully in most cases re-reading) the first few pages of 1984. I did today, and it is scary!

who knows how much longer we can do this!
abyssia:
I'm glad you finally declared it dead. I've been declaring it since November, but no one seemed to believe me. Actually, I was talking about it before that - but I remained hopeful that it could be resuscitated until then.

I looked online at a few houses in Lancaster and the prices are nice, as are the houses. Much better than around here. About $100,000 less, on average. But I thought you wanted to live in Baltimore?

Iran is starting it's nuclear program again. You know, so they have electricity. For air conditioning and such. This is pissing off Europe and giving rummy much to smile about. Meanwhile, a woman who lost her son in Iraq is camping outside of Bush's ranch - says she won't leave until he meets with her. She actually met him before - part of his "I grieve with the families of the fallen" deal. Only he didn't know the names of the families or their loved ones.... Heheheh. Reporters are eating this up. I remember Gulf War I - when I went to the protest march - we chanted things like, "support the troops but not the war" and "no blood for oil." This woman is saying pretty much the same thing and she wants him to bring the boys back home.

So, what do we do? Keep looking at that horizon? Move to Canadia? Australia? Mars??? Perhaps we should get some plastic, some duct tape and some canned food... Or just learn to "duck and cover"!!! I'm at a desk, I could give it a go. I can re-read 1984 while I'm under the desk. It's been decades since I read it. I think I was in middle school. Maybe fifth grade. Not sure.

Ok, now I'm just babbling all in your journal and stuff. Blame the muscle relaxants - I didn't think my brain was a muscle, but it sure seems to be relaxed!

Eye on the horizon... Sounds like a peaceful thing to do, doesn't it?
