Oh no, that was not my intention at all- but your response was a good one, thank you! Intelligent discussion warms my heart any day. And yes, I suppose I know what you mean- on one hand the Finnish people are very liberal and alternative-looking people are not much frowned upon- but then again theres the hopeless need to fit in, which I think must originate from some sort of lack of self-worth and insecurity? The suicide ratio is often explained by the long dark winters and the fact that as a people, were suppposed to be somehow gloomy and introverted- excuses excuses, they might be true, they might be wrong, perhaps its the competition, the dark winter, the tendency for depression and the inability to open up all together? I dont know. And I cant really say anything about the education system in itself, I have never experienced such pressure myself, and hardly ever heard anyone complain about that in particular- but then again, Im an offspring of alternative schooling, Montessori and Waldorf- so Ive never really attended a so-called "normal" school. I wouldnt know.
