American Psycho is in no way the token groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece. It is however thoroughly entertaining and, as it was distributed by the quasi-indie label Lions Gate, it's a helluva lot better than the crap spewed out by mainstream Hollywood. Plus, Christian Bale was fantastic in it, you can't deny that.

You're absolutely right. I would have also liked to see what different directors could have done with the movie. I didn't mean to disagree with you, I simply wanted to say that if nothing else the movie was entertaining. I do agree that the book was so much more complete in content and meaning, but if everything were included in the movie it would have been at least 72 hours long, and I don't know of any director who can translate entire chapters on Whitney Houston into a tasteful, interesting cinematic sequence.
