Mood: pissed

I have rarely witnessed a cluster-fuck to equal last night's Texas caucuses, and I've seen some doozies. In the town where I work, a judge ordered the caucusers to disband or face arrest. Wow, I sure love the fact that our judges have such a thorough understanding of the law. At my local, four people showed up and the other three supported Clinton....

The three big fires in the area seem to have calmed down. I haven't gotten called out for the past two days, although when I went by the fire barn on Thursday, all the trucks were out. They may have decided to use the lull to service them, or just had small crews out patrolling the edges of the black. I still see a lot...

I went out on my first fire today. I stopped at the Post Office to get my mail, and heard that a fire was coming our way, so I headed over to the fire barn and changed out of my office clothes into my NOMEX gear. At the first site we went to, everything went smoothly. We evaluated the fire break, then set a back...

frown Nobody gets me. I take things seriously, but not that seriously! frown

I think I have to get out more, and meet more people. I've survived for over a year working part time. Living way out in the sticks, though, it takes too much effort to wait around in town until evening, and the high price of fuel makes me reluctant to drive into town for...

I got a really hostile email yesterday from people whom I used to consider my oldest friends. Evidently, their amazement at my disillusionment with the naive, idealistic politics of my youth led them to decide that I had become a Republican. In other parts of the letter, they showed that they still view people through the lens we shared when we met in High School....

I would only end a friendship on those grounds if we disagreed and the friend forced their views down my throat. We don't have to agree but we can respect our right to disagree.

Stress. It can come from two sources... positive events and negative events.

I remember taking several different stress surveys throughout my school years. The teacher had us check off different events that had occurred during the past year and add the values for each. Seriously, each time we did this I scored off the charts. Way off.

Today my stress comes from things that haven't...

Stress and taxes suck. Hang in there, man.

I am jealous that you're going to Amsterdam. I have always wanted to go.

Take care!

After 16 months of scheming and dreaming, I made my reservation for my triumphant return to the Netherlands.

I'll leave here on April 16th, and spend a night in Houston (I chose that over waking up at 4am and waiting in the Houston Airport for 7 hours), then proceed to Schipol on the 17th arriving 7:30am on the 18th. I'll just have carry-on, so I...

After getting deeply attached to the internet for a several months, I needed a break. I picked up my PS2 controller for the first time in a while and started playing some games that I bought a while back. Fun stuff.

I normally avoid traveling around the holidays, but I decided to hit the road this year and visit my sister in Austin for Boxing...

I guess I've moved one step closer to the stereotypical Texan. I bought a pistol.

My boss (who can practice law with one hand on his cell phone and shoot a dove with the other on his shotgun) and the guys at the gun shop all mentioned the possibility of using it against a person, but that didn't enter into my decision to buy it....

Ah too bad.
Yeah esozone is coming next year in October, I highly recommend. Another interesting site is irreality dot net. Things are a buzzing over there.
