i am not pleased.
in an effort to 'borrow' one of the many unsecured wifi networks in this neighborhood, i discovered a device you can make on your own called a 'cantenna'. so i made one. and in the process wasted 40oz of beef stew and an entire evening. I also discovered that my wifi card's antenna was broken, but no worries right? that's what the cantenna is for. well it's just not working. i had much better results with a cool looking coil of 25' of copper wire.
my floor is strewn with bits of coaxial wire cutters, butt connectors, bits of solder, and tin cans....
and so i'm still using my phone's tethering abilities and coming close to my monthly 5gig limit of data. (or so they say, their tool for checking data tells me to wait until the next billing cycle to check, while their email says i'm cutting it close and to monitor it...pshhhh)
i guess it was a fun experiment... mad scientist parts laying everywhere... sure would've been nicer if it had worked...
and no beer...
i decided against it. but i am still going to try to stay up all night to correct my sleeping schedule...
you wanna know what sucks? unpaid vacation... it's depressing...

I guess it would, unless you had a lot of money saved up and I for one do not, so yes I can see how that would suck.
Well it sounds like a fun little thing to make, but it really sucks that it didnt work, kind of makes it feel like a waist of time, but at least you had a new experience and learned something new.
