Since I last posted (aside from the frustrated post about mixing that session), very little has happened. I've been spending my time going to lectures, practicing for studio operational tests and revising for my Specialist Audio Applications (read: looking at how mp3 encoders and data transfer works right down to the 1s and 0s). It's been occasionally punctuated by nights out with friends and such, and seeing The Flaming Lips last Monday. Met up with some friends of mine who I met through the Flaming Lips messageboard, Ned and Gena (who was exactly 30 weeks gone on the day!) Great times, great gig, great night. Now if only Wayne would can the propaganda and they played more songs instead, it'd be perfect!
My flatmate brought this guy back last night. Unlike the last two, this guy was fucking cool. His name was Brendan, he was in his late 30s but looked a lot older, was a fantastic musician and had done a lot of travelling. We bonded over music and jammed for a while, until in the end she gave up chipping in and left us to it. He left at 4am, but not without me arranging a date to record him. There is NOTHING more pleasurable than recording a decent musician (conversely, there is nothing more frustrating than recording a bad one).
In other news, I can now see Liverpool's Winter Wonderland from my bedroom window. I can lie in bed and see a big ferris wheel going round, full of loved up people... pah, I don't have time to feel lonely! I've been far too busy. When the exams are out of the way, it may be a different story, but cross that bridge when we get there, eh?
