Now that I'm old, I need to settle into some kind of routine and never vary from it. This is a pretty good neighbourhood for it, seeing as how I'm surrounded by other old folks and also by some nice coffee shops and restaurants.
Saturday evenings, dinner at Ajisai. If I stick to miso soup and two rolls, I can come in at under $10 and have a tasty, realtively healthy meal. And if I'm feeling frisky I can flirt with the staff in Japanese; this is a sushi place that's actually run by Japanese people. Even the guy with "Steve" on his name tag seems to be able to nihongo hanasemasu.
Sunday mornings, BC Benny crepe at Doux Crepes. Holy fucking shit, but that's good eatin'. A crepe with smoked salmon in it, topped by two poached eggs, sundried tomato, chives and hollandaise; bottomless coffee, all for $8.40. And if I'm still feeling groggy, Cafe Artigiano has the best Americano I've ever had.
Monday evenings, tuna burger at the Red Onion with a Raven Ale ($2/glass $2.75/pint).
