still at work at 9:25, will be here for another hour. will probably just ride my bike to my parents place (they're away) sleep there then come back in tomorrow morning. hardcore man.
i now know more about freestyle motorcross than is probably healthy for me, i've been doing this job for about three weeks, doing all the sound for a redbull "x-fighter's" dvd...
i spend so much time and effort and i'm still never happy with the end result. i can't wait til i mix something and are completly satisfied, i'm hoping this sensational short film that's coming up will be that good. i'm fairly new to mixing and am learning alot as i go, and it's fucking hard. cramming 48 tracks of sound into a volume level between -20 and -8db, mixing so that that the mono, stereo, and 5.1 mixes all sounds equally good from the one console. just constantly grappling with the technology.
hard core
i just dream of someday having my own setup which i'm totally comfortable with and know backwards and sounds exactly the way i want it. it'll also be on the shores of scotland island, up north of sydney at pittwater. my studio will be called scotland island sound. i'll have a big glass window right between my beautiful speakers that looks north over shimmering blue water. the room will have natural light from the massive sky light, and i'll be so good by then directors will row out to work with me. a hot slightly hippyish girl will be my assistant and do the slob work for me and wear a bikini around the studio in summer, while i work in my boardies, and when i see the nor-easter start to come across the water at about 2:30, i'll stop work, save my project, and pull one of my ready to sail windsurfer rigs out of the boat shed and skid across the water, feeling the spray blast the dull ache of work from my head.
scotland island sound.
