End of a Season

The sun shines down on us,
A golden gem in an ocean of blue,
Warm and joyous it seems,
Summer perfection in the sky

A cloud appears on the horizon,
A thief who would steal the warmth,
Dark and ominous it seems,
Creeping darkness in the sky.

Thunder rolls across the sky,
A drum roll from the depth of hell,
Violent and menacing it seems,
Rumbling terror in the sky.

Rain pours to the ground,
A river of soul-chilling cold,
Freezing and endless it seems,
Summers death in the sky.
