At 2:30 am Friday morning, a pickup truck pulled up beside a young woman's car. The man jumped into the back of the car, held the girl at gunpoint, and made her drive to a neighborhood that was under construction. There, he raped her and, when she tried to escape, shot at her twice, hitting her in the leg and stomach.

We all hear stories like this every day. We become desensitized to them almost. We say, "oh that's awful, what is the world coming to today?" And maybe from them on we lock our doors, but other than that, we don't think about it. We assume that it was some ghetto person getting into trouble driving around at 3 am.

I heard this news story yesterday morning while I was on campus after French class. Just like you, I thought about how awful and scary that was, and I worried for my own safety. I thought about how I needed to start locking my doors when I'm driving. I thought about how I need to never drive late at night no matter what. And then I forgot all about it.


I just found out.....







That girl was my roommate.
