Oooo-kaaay.

I'm not here often enough at the moment.

I've quickly grown to love the redesign though. Once I learned where everything lives now (my whole problem with it in the first instance was that it wasn't intuitive enough. Sections of the screen no longer clearly enough defined, and so on... blah).

I am in the middle of a heroic weekend of drunken and debauched behaviour. Always the best kind of weekend.

Thursday night was the re-opening soiree for the new and improved Garage nightclub here in Glasgow. It's a dingy student-infested hole, but my buddy Alan has just finished revamping it's interior, so I went along for a peek. Nothing to do with the 8pm opening hour and free bar until 3am. Oh no siree.

Nothing to do with the bucking bronco in the middle of the dancefloor, nor the leggy blondes attempting to ride it. Definitely not.

Everything to do with the cocktail waitress who decided I was her favourite freeloader for the night though. Oh yes.

Friday was a sneakily planned day off work, to wallow in my hangover.

Friday night consisted of the Mighty Yer Maw playing an acoustic set, as support to the magnificent Jimbob.

Jimbob (yes, he of Carter USM fame), was on top drunken rambling form, a shambolic mess in a sharp black suit, playing his heart out on on a battered old acoustic geetar, kicking at imaginary effects pedals, and leading an almighty singalong.

Top bloke, top tunes, and a stunning support slot from Yer Maw. Their wall of noise comes across so much better acoustic - stripping away all the layers of feedback lets you hear the songs on their own terms, and boy can those kids write lyrics.

Tonight I plan to check out Broken Social Scene playing at the Barfly (because how can a band with a name that achingly cool be anything but great?), then take part in a surprise party for an old friend's thirtieth.

Tomorrow, I'm wearing my jaded journo's hat and heading out to review some trendy band from down South. I've heard their first single, and am fully prepared to hate them with a passion. At least that usually leads to good writing on my part. I have a talent for vitriol.

I'm deadly jealous of you for seeing Jimbob, God I need to get to more gigs. I keep getting told how cool Glasgow is and the bucking bronco thing has done it for me now, might have to pay a visit smile
