Just because the best way to make and keep friends is to talk about politics smile

So I have voted. The only way I can sum up my choices for President of the United States on the ballot are:

1 Bible Nut
1 Socialist Hippie
1 Tree Hugging Hippie
and
1 Crazy Guy

I was a little disappointed as some 'Who's on your ballot' type web...

ha, I can see how that could happen at Taco Bell tongue

We had a Coke vending machine at my high school that took $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills eeek I found it hilarious because the bottles of soda were like $1.75 each (20oz) and people would actually put a $10 or a $20 bill in the machine to get a soda and get the rest of the bill back in quarters. It was a bit of a hassle, but I guess if that is the smallest bill that you have... confused

I was stuck with only a $5 bill one time and needed a drink, so thought I'd try it. Just my luck, the machine was out of quarters..most exspensive bottle of Cherry Coke I've ever purchased! and I've even bought soda at Disneyworld! tongue

so anyway, finally gonna get around to replying to this comment, as it was well-thought out and all...

a bit more then the usual "bush sucks" one finds when reading up on this site.

"I am no longer convince that we are dealing with a Liberal/Conservative bunch of bullshit. We are dealing with two groups of people with their own twisted views of what a utopia are."

i dunno, i think we are dealing with two groups of people with twisted views of reshaping the world in their own images for their own sake. utopia implies way too much thought for others. neither candidate (nor their affiliate parties) seem interested in actually LEADING, FIXING, CHANGING, or HELPING.

"Conservativeism to me is the government staying the hell out of peoples lives. People can make their own decisions, but they are also expected to bear the responsibility if bad things happen because of them.

Liberalism to me is a willing to help those in need because cause they have fallen on hard time. It's also watching out that those with power don't exploit those with out by lying to them or selling them snake oil."

Yeah, in a nutshell thats how I look at it. Whats going on now is warped out of proportion by the media. The two shouldn't necessarily be pitted AGAINST one another. but if you simplify the playing field and make everything black and white, it makes much better television than an informed debate would.

did you catch John Stewart on CROSSFIRE? now that was some shit. his only agenda on that show was talking shit on the media and pointing out just how flawed the media have become when something like a joke-news program can be considered equal to CNN.

"I see the republicans pandering to the religious nuts, and the whole group of them gleefully giggling their way to the apocalypse they seem to be so looking forward to. They also seem to be the party selling out to corporate interests at the expense of the health and financial stability of those they claim to represent."

yup, that sounds about right.

"I see the democrats pandering to people who want a free ride and who are not willing to take responsibility for their actions. they also seem to be the party selling out to environmental alarmists and anti-capitalist socialists."

i don't know who the fuck the democrats are pandering to. they certainly aren't doing a good job of it or they would've done much better in this election, as there are much more poor people than rich people.

for me it really comes down to a massive failure for both parties to represent the needs of the people and/or define a common ideal worth achieving. too much money involved. too much media involved. very dirty.

"If you want to make a difference find a third party who's political platform you mostly agree with and help them. A third party is not going to win a presidential seat any time soon. But I'm willing to bet you could help get many installed into town and city governments and possibly into state and federal legislatures."

yeah, in theory. but, thinking on it in as an artist, as one who's expertise is controlling and presenting information, it seems that it would be much wiser for me to take on the media and do what i can to fuck that little system up.

in general, i support third parties no matter how long of a shot it looks like. at least when you do vote, you feel like you made a statement.

the more i think of in, the more i see the future being shaped by independent organizations that take matters into their own hands. places that feed homeless people instead of lobbying to get homeless people fed, people who protect the environment instead of arguing for politicians to protect the environment. common people cannot fight with money like the corporate lobbyists have, best to fight with actions.

that was one of the things i liked about the socialist kids i hung with in boston. of course, i did not quite like that they walked around with their heads up their COLLECTIVE asses.

its a tricky one. i'll give 'em that.

It was nice seeing you at the party. I've seen you at Manray a few times, and known we shared a few common acquaintances, but for some reason never approached you. Oh well...

Anyways, happy birthday!

I think I may have just started to burn the candle at both ends.

This could be intresting depending on if it makes me get crabby or if I just start to get weird.

yes, i did live to hear about it.

and i haven't even slipped into some kind of alternate dimension.

haha.

gumbercules:
burn that candle, baby. so what if you end up both crabby AND weird? Just have a (slurs) cuppala Mai Tais...everything will be wonderful. or at least blurry.

(edited to include the proper plural of "Mai Tai", because I understand there's been some controversy surrounding this...)

So even though this is the 2nd weekend to come along since starting at Harvrad I'm considering it my 1st real weekend in 3 years.

I've mostly been celebrating it by buying drinks for people.

And by people I mean girls.

Honestly, what did you expect?

-PT
boundcreature:
nothing more, nothing less.

So, today I start working a more or less proper job at Harvard University.

I'm told that is should last until around Sept. 2005. Plus there will be the chance to find a more long term place for myself during that time.

Hopfully this is the first step in a journey that I am way over due in taking.

i was surprised to look up and see you dancing all of a sudden, i was beginning to think you spent all your time at the club looking cool and dispensing sage advice.
