Sonatine - Japanese Yakuza film written, directed by and starring Takeshi Kitano. It's fucking awesome!
Actually Fireworks is my all time fave by him, and it has Yakuza - but he plays a cop in that one. One minute serene, hauntingly beautiful and sentimental - the next, extremely violent. A masterpiece!
