So a little background about that scary ass blog post from yesterday. But I'M OKAY! (Enough.)

I went to the optometrist yesterday. He's checking things out and starts talking about how I have all this weird scarring on one of my corneas. The thing is we can't figure out when or how it happened. So that's bad enough.

Then he tells me my optic nerves are twice the size they should be with a lot of extra "cupping." So I joke and ask if I get to "keep them." He responds with, "We're going to run some extra tests and we'll talk."

Not ominous at all.

We run some more tests. He rules out a bunch of stuff including glaucoma, but he keeps asking about the pain. I tell him other than some sensitivity to light, there's been no pain. HE DOESN'T BELIEVE ME! We went around and around for a while, but he more or less accepts what I'm telling him. He's reasonably certain I won't have to remove my eyes or anything.

I'm going back next month for some more tests.

HERE'S the dickish part! I didn't want to tell my family about any of this unless I hear something concrete. My sister has her own eye issues, and she went to see the same doctor the next day. He gives her all of this weird cryptic stuff about "poor guy." She gets freaked out and calls the rest of my family trying to find out what's going on freaking all of THEM out. *sigh*

You were the first person I thought about and you gave me so much hope that my sister can have a good life even if she is officially diagnosed with it. *hugs*

Sorry your family found out. So, this is genetic? And you went in for sensitivity to light?

Also, compliments on using the word, "dickish". I am adding it to my daily vocabulary. kissbiggrin
