Today was the Day of the Dead. A procession went by our backdoor.

I'm going to give y'all a rerun of my experience with John McCain. (W/ Added outrage!)
My family owns Mexican restaurants. The McCain campaign asked if they could do a stump speech from our largest dining room on the day of the TX primary. Not a big deal. We had Mike Huckabee and Bill Clinton at our place the previous week.
A couple of things you should know. The room they wanted to set up in has a giant mural on the wall of local Hispanic heroes. (Now, we're not dumb. We took down the portrait of Clinton.) Also, our restaurant is one of the last places mariachis come and make their living playing for tips (ie- we don't control them, they work for themselves.)
It seems like it would be perfect for him. McCain + Mexican Restaurant + TX primary == reaching out to Hispanics, right?

That isn't the only wall they put curtains over. One of the walls had nothing on it but a portrait of my grandmother.
Then staffers came over and told us we had to get the mariachis out of there. No reason given.
Some people I've told this story to say it was the staffers, not McCain. My response? McCain knows who he hires, and he sets the tone.
He came in and walked right by me. He didn't try to shake my hand, and I didn't try to shake his. I was cordial, though. I say good morning. Or to be precise, Buenos dias, senor McCain.

In March John McCain said drilling on US soil would be expensive, and yield very little oil.
In October John McCain made overshore drilling the centerpiece of his economic plan.
John McCain says he is a friend of the Mexican-American community and his favorite movie is Viva Zapata.
John McCain won't get his picture taken with Mexicans.

I certainly do know what you mean about Kerry...I was totally heartbroken by that, scarred, I swear. I just couldn't believe it.
You and I are both in Bush country, so I think it's certain that we should know McCain's winning our states.
I just want to be drunk to watch everything come 9- I just remember how I felt with Kerry! Need to be numbed!
